Build your test
The $55 Standard Soil Test covers most growers. The Deep Dirt Dive is our preferred comprehensive test — chemistry, biology and available nitrogen in one kit. Tap any add-on to expand further; your total updates as you go.
Both tests include the AG-Model amendment plan, a pre-paid sample kit shipped to you, and auto-upload to your Soil Dashboard.

How it works
Build your test above and we ship a sample kit to your door.
Scoop, bag, and drop it in the mail. About ten minutes of work.
Your full nutrient panel — plus living-soil microscopy if you add it — run through the AG-Model.
Auto-uploaded to your Soil Dashboard with a custom amendment plan.
Chemistry & biology
The standard test is a full nutrient panel with a custom plan. Want to see the living soil too? The Deep Dirt Dive includes the microscope life test — same kit, same auto-upload to your dashboard.
Every macro, secondary and micronutrient — measured and benchmarked by the AG-Model.
See the bacteria, fungi and critters that actually feed your plants. Included in the Deep Dirt Dive, or add it to the standard test.
Results land straight in your Soil Dashboard — no spreadsheets, no decoding.
More than numbers
Every result runs through the AG-Model, which turns raw lab values into plain-English recommendations for your growing area — what to add, how much, and when.
How to test
A quick walkthrough of collecting and submitting your soil sample.
New Jersey growers work across varied landscapes. Sandy Coastal Plain soils can raise questions about irrigation and nutrient retention, while finer or layered Piedmont soils can raise different questions about drainage and rooting. Those are regional starting points, not a diagnosis of your property. Imported topsoil, construction, and years of amendments can make a garden unlike the surrounding mapped soil.
Start with a representative sample from each growing area. Keep areas with different soil, drainage, or past management separate. Record the crop, sampling depth, and recent inputs. Compare pH and nutrient results before adding lime or fertilizer. For independent sampling guidance, consult Rutgers guidance for home lawns and gardens. Build a soil test kit to measure the properties relevant to your question.
Limestone-influenced areas and clay-rich soils are useful reasons to ask about pH, nutrient availability, and structure. The underlying rock does not guarantee a specific surface pH. Weathering, amendments, drainage, and site history all matter. Do not apply lime based only on a county or soil color; compare the report with the intended crop and obtain an appropriate lime recommendation.
A chemistry test and a field drainage observation answer different questions. If water remains on the surface, examine compaction and layers as well as nutrient values. Sample separate problem areas rather than blending them into a healthy bed. Read Penn State's soil testing guidance, then choose your test and checkout options. Add laboratory particle size analysis if an accurate sand, silt, and clay measurement is needed.
The Standard Soil Test is $55 and includes the nutrient panel and AG-Model amendment plan described above. The $125 Deep Dirt Dive adds the bundled biology and nitrogen options shown in the builder. Optional analyses are separate selections. Review the package details before checkout; a standard panel does not automatically include every contaminant, biological measurement, or particle size analysis.
